Hey there! If you didn’t figure it out already, I’m Joel my little hobbyist blog. Now I could bore you with my “normal life” details, like working for a small company in Texas or giving out intimate details regarding my family, but that’s not the purpose of this site for me. Instead, I plan to muck about my various pet projects and random musings.
First and foremost, I’m a collector of many things. Although, not really a true “pack rat” collector like some (wife simply won’t allow that!), but have some room to myself to play. Mostly I go after vintage electronics (old video games for example), entertainment memorabilia, and help an in-law find pieces for her antique shops and displays but I’m interested in many other collector’s items as well.
Limited space somewhat constrains this hobby but luckily I’m mostly into it for the thrill of the hunt. Nothing beats going to a garage sale and finding that one collector cherished item almost being given away. Because of this, I’ve turned my compulsion into a small side business. Yep, I’m the quintessential “Ebayer”. It sure wouldn’t make for a great living, at least not in my case, but it is nice little income that can fuel my curiosities.
Of course, I have other interests as well. Love working in and around the house. Just installed a new tiled counter top and cabinets in the kitchen. While I’m certainly no Bob Viela, getting my hands on a project is a satisfying endeavor. Also, help with the lovely garden my wife maintains in the backyard.
